Barbara Casasola | LFW SS 17
Barbara Casasola made a return to form for spring, showing a collection of effortlessly beautiful tailoring and dresses for women who want to look good in the heat. If a young Katharine Hepburn were to make a film set in the Brazilian jungle now, this is what she’d wear.
An image of a woman covered in body paint in a book about the Brazilian Candomblè religion inspired a number of serene midi dresses in white, caramel, rust and navy that had scooped necklines and skirts knitted to give the effect of sharp pleats, and with tiny dropped-stitch openings in lines to show the tiniest spots of skin.
There were other great knitted dresses like the camel or blood red off-the-shoulder numbers — a riff on the white cotton shoulder-baring dresses worn by Candomblè worshipers — and a black maxi frock with pinafore straps, among the cast of winning looks.
