Hemang Agrawal | Lakmé Fashion Week A/W 2016
Even though Zari (mentallic yarn), has been unmanageable to many an artisan especially to create a full-blown ensemble. Hemang Agrawal tamed the wire to create a shimmery metallic collection. Without the use of printing or embroidery, the 'heavy metal' collection showcased simple shifts, dresses and sarees.
The textile genius bought zari to the forefront and presented it to the audience in a language they understand best. From jackets sarees to minis, midis to even four-piece suits, we saw them all tailored from handwoven zari and made using a beautiful palette of gold, dull gold, silver and copper. Elegant, classy and simple would be define Agarwal's recently presented collection that beautifully blended traditional handloom with a global aesthetic. While the relaxed silhouettes and wearable designs made almost every outfit desirable, the golden-copper jacketed sarees and copper midi dresses are our favourite.
