Ritu Kumar | Lakmé Fashion Week A/W 2016
This season the label was sports-inspired fashion, without being athletic. The streetwear staples blended Indian textiles with western sensibilities. Pieces included the brand's usuals - maxi dresses, skirts, blouses and off-shoulders tunics. Even though we like the athleisure trend, we refreshingly appreciate a more feminine approach like this. There was a vivacious energy on the ramp in a dress inspired by the patterns and motifs of Kashmiri weaving.
The collection plays with a palette of colourful and soft tones, creating a must-have collection. There were a lot of summer whites and pastels in the beginning of the line, culminating in a splash of tribal-inspired prints to cap the show.
"Today, fashion speaks about a certain individuality yet is incredibly connected with the network of people who wear it. Hence, at this presentation of the Lakmé Fashion Week 16' and Spring Summer 17' collection we have invited dynamic young online content creators and fashion influencers to experience the collection on the ramp."
