Gaurav Gupta ICW 2016
Gaurav Gupta • India Couture Week • 2016
Gaurav Gupta's love for the excessive grows with every season. The runways are converted into a cave-like structure, the crowds are bigger and the clothes have more ruffles and shine on them than we last remember.
Gaurav Gupta forte is cocktail dressing and he has perfected the art of western silhouettes, high octane embellishments and flattering cuts. All of them elements that define glamour for the evening.
The collection is titled the 'Scape Song', brought in elements of water bodies, sands - free forms in nature that structurally inspired the designer. The colour story went from beiges to browns, pale, blues, mint greens and then reds.
Gaurav Gupta experimented with the crystal mesh fabric by Swarovski, which was used in the making of his pièce de résistance worn by debutante actress Saiyami Kher who is set to star in the upcoming feature film Mirzya alongside Harshvardhan Kapoor. This was Kher's first time on the runway and she was mighty pleased to be taking the runway for the designer like Gaurav Gupta.
